Details: It was on 31^st January 1947, when the company was established as Associated Battery Makers. It came up with purchasing of all kinds of assets as well as getting buyers, Sellers and dealers amongst all kinds of electrical and chemical goods. They wanted to enter in to the path of Chloride Electric Storage Ltd which entered market in the year 1916. These both companies came to an agreement to work with each other. It was on Aug 1972, when the name of the company was changed to Chloride India Ltd. This name was again changed to Chloride Industries Ltd. Later on, in the year 1995, the name of the company was changed to Exide Industries Ltd.

Widest range of all kinds of batteries is being manufactured by this company. It can have the battery from 2.5 Ah to 20,400 Ah, thus showing how wide ranges of battery you can get with this company. There are six factories of Exide Industries that are located all across the country. The states that have these factories are located in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Haryana. The predecessor of the company carried on with its earlier operations being carried out from the main import house. It was done as per it was in the year 1916 and that was under the name of Chloride Electrical Storage company. Soon market so many new companies coming up with storage batteries. In today’s; time, Exide has made its own name as it has started manufacturing some of the greatest storage batteries. The company has taken up initiatives and come up with its own set of service fronts over various forms and configurations of batteries, there are so many kinds of storage batteries that have come up.

There have been many milestones created by The Exide batteries. It was in 1916, when Chloride Electric Storage Co, UK started its own operations inside India. Soon, it was in the year 1946, when the first factory was set up in West Bengal. In 1969, Second factory was started in Pune and name of the company was changed to Chloride India Limited in the year 1972. In the year 1976, Research and Development centre was established in Kolkata. Again third factory in 1981 was set up in Kolkata. In the year 1997, fourth factory was set up in Tamil Nadu. Soon, in the year 2000, acquisition o f100% stake in chloride batteries. In the year 2003, commissioned plant at bawal was set up. In 2005, there was 50% share holding with ING Vysya. Recently in 2008, it had acquired 51% stake in Lead Alloys India Ltd. Exide Industries is surely coming up with so many kinds of different batteries and it has come long way to gain the fame, which it is having now.
